‘Women lie, men lie, numbers don’t lie’ – Lil’ Wayne (Women Lie, Men Lie)

Good Morning Everyone,

I work in a place where there is an excessive obsession with numbers; numbers rule – numbers determine when your next paycheck will come or if it will never come, numbers confirm if you will get that promotion or not. Numbers and figures are the critical parameters if you work in a financial institution where targets are important and attaining or exceeding them makes you extraordinary.

‘What are your MPR figures like?’ (MPR means Monthly Performance Review/Report) ‘What is your target/budget?’ These requests are everyday questions where I work and the type of reply you give determines if you will be celebrated or castigated. Interestingly, if you are an active member of our official WhatsApp group, you will ultimately understand the reason I play will numbers/figures a lot. Numbers rule.

Therefore, my presentation today would be about numbers/figures. We would look at what our figures were at the beginning of last year, what they are today and what we intend to achieve together as we begin another decade. But before we start, I want to welcome everyone into the new year and congratulate you on this magnificent accomplishment. I thank God who has made that possible and plead with him to make this year a positive and memorable year for us all. We need to be honest with ourselves, 2019 brought a lot of positive achievements. I also got a partial scholarship to study my Masters’ Degree in the biggest University in Wales, United Kingdom. Glory and Admiration to God Almighty. Amen.

Our Challenges

Before I continue, I want to thank you for reading to this point because Nigerians hardly read. Okay, who remembers the popular catchphrase – ‘Time is Money?’. The phrase ‘time is money’ is popularly promulgated to emphasize the importance of time and spending it wisely. Unfortunately, time and money which are two of the most important things in life are not sufficiently enough for us to manage the blog.
Migrating to a full-fledged website is still pending, launching that mobile app is still pending also. There are other things we would love to do but the paucity of funds is a major challenge.

Our Plans For 2020 & Beyond

In 2020 and beyond, we would continue to work on innovative ways to free up on time for the things that matter, we are also looking at ways we can raise the funds needed to take our business to the next level. There are plans to raise NGN10,000,000.00 (Ten Million Naira Only) from an investor, this is definitely a herculean task but nothing is impossible.

We are also looking for funds through the Federal Government’s single digit interest rate intervention funds to the IT industry. We plan to explore that option too.

We plan to grow our readers in Nigeria and in diaspora by opening up more social media platforms; Tumblr and Telegram.

Ultimately, we plan to hit 1,000,000.00 views, migrate to a full-fledged website, launch a mobile app and register our business with the appropriate authorities in 2020 and beyond.

Once again, welcome to 2020.

Congratulations.
